We are deeply saddened to announce the passing away of Mr. Hemaka De Alwis, former Chairman of Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECIC), on 4th February 2025. His remarkable leadership and contribution to the Corporation and the country will always be remembered. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. May he attain supreme nibbana.

SLECIC recently held a strategic meeting with People’s Leasing Company (PLC) to share the benefits of its financial solutions aimed at uplifting the SME sector. The discussion, led by SLECIC Chairman & Managing Director Prof. (Dr.) Aruna Shanthaarachchi, alongside senior officials from both organizations, marks a step forward in supporting SMEs that have long been overlooked. As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, the Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation has offered six-month internships to five graduates currently studying at the University of Sabaragamuwa.

SLECIC recently held a productive discussion with the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) to enhance collaboration and create an effective action plan to support Sri Lankan exporters in 2025. This strategic meeting laid the foundation for several initiatives aimed at providing better services and resources for the country's exporters. From the NCE side, the meeting was attended by Secretary General/Chief Executive Officer Mr. Shiham Marikar and Assistant Director - Member Services & Operations Ms. Dilini Gamlathge. Representing SLECIC, Chairman and Managing Director Professor (Dr.) Aruna Shanthaarachchi, Assistant General Manager (Marketing) Ms. Shama Selvaratnam, and the marketing team, including Mr. Lakshman Jayaweera and Ms. Oshani Pabasara, were present. The two organizations discussed and planned a range of strategies to ensure exporters receive comprehensive support, and SLECIC is currently moving forward with the implementation of these plans. This collaboration marks an exciting step toward a more vibrant and efficient export sector in Sri Lanka.

SLECIC recently held a productive meeting with key institutions under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, with the goal of promoting and raising awareness of SLECIC’s products within the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector. The meeting was attended by Mrs. J.M. Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary of the Ministry, along with other officials. The SLECIC delegation was led by Chairman and Managing Director, Professor (Dr.) Aruna Shanthaarachchi, and included General Manager (Acting) Yushan Tharanga Abeykoon, Deputy General Manager (Operations) Mr. Mohan Silva, Assistant General Manager (Operations) Mr. Wasantha Manthripala, Assistant General Manager (Marketing) Ms. Shama Selvaratnam, Assistant General Manager (Claims & Recoveries) Mr. Manjula Wickramasinghe, along with other members of the marketing department. As part of its renewed strategy, SLECIC is focused on collaborating with government institutions to support the SME sector. These efforts are designed to enhance outreach and contribute to the growth of an export-oriented economy.

SLECIC is honored to be a Silver Sponsor for the 26th Presidential Export Awards (PEA), organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, which will take place on February 7, 2025. As part of this prestigious event, SLECIC has pledged a contribution of Rs. 1 million in support of this important initiative. The SLECIC team, led by Chairman & Managing Director Professor (Dr) Aruna Shanthaarachchi, along with Assistant General Manager (Marketing) Ms. Shama Selvaratnam and Assistant Manager (Marketing) Ms. Oshani Pabasara, participated in the cheque presentation ceremony to officially announce our sponsorship. At SLECIC, we remain committed to fostering and supporting Sri Lanka’s export-oriented growth.

SLECIC, as one of the event's strategic partners, participated in a special cocktail reception hosted by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) prior to the 32nd NCE Awards Ceremony. The reception was held in honor of the event’s strategic partners and included a brief ceremony to exchange sponsor placards in anticipation of the prestigious event, which took place on the 6th of December 2024. From SLECIC, Assistant General Manager (Marketing) Ms. Shama Selvaratnam and Assistant Manager Mrs. Nutan Thowfeek attended the event. During the reception, Ms. Shama Selvaratnam expressed gratitude to the NCE for their continued support of exporters and outlined SLECIC's strategies for the upcoming year to further support and uplift both direct and indirect exporters.
